Fast Remote Data Access with a Silverlight Datagrid!
Xceed DataGrid for Silverlight is unlike all other Silverlight datagrids, providing a lightning fast experience even with remote data. Most other Silverlight datagrids resort to using “paging” (for example, a Next/Previous button) when handling multiple pages of remote data. This causes the app’s UI to become unresponsive while waiting for the data, something that can last for seconds, which has a major impact on how your end-users judge an app. But Xceed’s Silverlight grid control delivers a fast, smooth scrollbar experience that is always snappy and responsive. To show off this capability, Xceed’s online, no-install Silverlight datagrid demo includes a sample that uses live, remote data, so you can see and feel this game-changing experience for yourself! Of course, you can play with over 25 other sample apps that cover features such as themes/styles, editing, filtering, grouping, and sorting, just to name a few. The source code for the sample apps is available with the product, which can be downloaded now and installed for a free 45-day trial that lets you try everything out. Among the many advances never before seen in a Silverlight gridview are a fluid, network lag-masking UI; a passive and active background data retrieval system (asynchronous data virtualization); optimized network communications, and asynchronous editing and validation. These innovations add up to mean one thing: Xceed DataGrid for Silverlight will shatter your boundaries. The product comes with complete documentation that fully integrates into Visual Studio for quick access. It also provides C# and VB.NET sample applications that make getting started with it easy. Full C# and XAML source code is available in the Blueprint Edition. See the Silverlight demo app live now, online! Or watch this video: |

Xceed Videos: News, Tips, Tutorials, and More!

Newly added tutorials show just how easy it is to set up XML and SQL databinding with our WPF datagrid. A new YouTube video shows off how smoothly Xceed DataGrid for Silverlight accesses and handles all of the nearly 150,000 records in the Netflix data (using OData). The code needed to achieve this is also given in the video’s comments—both lines of it! Another new YouTube video focuses on our WPF datagrid’s asynchronous stealth paging (background data virtualization). Previous videos have provided feature overviews of new versions of our flagship datagrid products, as well as feature spotlights and even feature previews. See them on the XceedVideos YouTube channel, as well as in our video directory at xceed.com. |
