We’re celebrating the third birthday of Xceed DataGrid for WPF by adding a mixture of new features to the product. There truly is something for everyone! Other improvements make it the most mature and stable WPF datagrid on the market.

Version 3.6 of Xceed DataGrid for WPF Professional Edition provides amazing usability, thanks to a powerful new group navigation control unlike anything available in other datagrids. Part of the Tableflow™ view, the control lets the end-user go instantly to any group or sub-group with a single click in a combo box.

Also new in version 3.6 of the Professional Edition is a background-generated print preview, which lets the end-user see what a document will look like before printing it and therefore save paper. Page view and layout configurations are reflected in the preview. Other new features include the ability to use multi-selection with a virtualized data source, and two new themes (a vibrant Windows 7 theme and the theme used in Xceed DataGrid for WPF Live Explorer). Finally, HP’s QuickTest Professional (QTP) is now supported, along with the currently supported White and Ranorex, allowing for automated UI testing.

New in version 3.6 of the Standard Edition—and also available in the Professional Edition—are scrolling speed improvements when working with non-virtualized data sources (100,000 rows and up). Also new is cell selection (single, multiple, and extended modes), in addition to the standard row selection, which means end-users can now select and copy blocks of cells just like in Excel. Lastly, the cursors in different views—such as "busy", "resize", and "drag" cursors—can be customized through new properties.

Xceed’s crack Silverlight team is feverishly working on Xceed DataGrid for Silverlight. Slated for a release during the first half of 2010, the product will deliver an incredible data experience to the end-user, with a true asynchronous engine for minimal waiting, data prefetching and caching for increased interactivity, and animated effects such as smooth scrolling for increased feedback. The control will fundamentally change the way people work with data in a Silverlight application. Here are just a few of the many other features that will be included at the product’s launch:

• A classic, data-focused tabular layout.
• Hierarchical display of groups.
• Grouping and group navigation.
• Column reordering and resizing.
• Data virtualization.
